Massachusetts Real Estate Agent finds the Wi-Fire great at work, in the car and at home!!

He concludes, “The mind boggles.”

“1/31/11 So this isn’t TOTALLY real estate related, but it’s neat! hField, a Bethelehem, PA based company makes a product called the wifire. It plugs into your USB port on your laptop or computer and enables you to access wireless networks up to 1000 feet away. That’s really far. Like, you can start backing up to your external harddrive when you’re halfway home from work far. OR if you’re in an office like mine, where you’re a good bit of distance and a few walls away from the router, you hook this sucker up to your laptop and mount it on the precipice of your cubicle and shazam! 20% faster internet.

That’s just how it worked for me. It might be even more dramatic for you if you’re farther away from the router. Below is a picture of it in action, but check out their website for more information and demonstration.

I actually used this at my old house in Virginia. We were set back from the road so we couldn’t get cable which was ON the road. But this little guy allowed me, with my neighbor’s permission of course, to access my neighbor’s wireless network and save me from living in the 20th century. I’m sure that’s the case for many of you lovely hill town dwelling Western Mass-ochists. Or maybe you want to sit on your porch and use the internet from inside? Or in the pool? The mind boggles.”

Wi-Fire- So, last week I am in the middle of a location scout for an international crystal chandelier company (can’t make that up) and stuck in downtown Barre, Vermont as I wait for a business owner to return so he can walk me through his 125 year old blacksmith shop full of ancient but still working triphammers (can’t make that up). I have an hour to kill and decide to fire my Mac Laptop up and see who has an unlocked wifi so i can post my new batch of photos to my web pages for this project. Time is always of the essence. One locked signal. OK. Then I fire up the Wi-Fire and bingo- about 15 signals, and one is not locked. Up go the new photos of the fancy house and the sawmill, thanks to Wi-Fire. All in a days work as a Vermont Location Scout.

Today, the Chicago Tribune featured the Wi-Fire in it’s feature “Money-saving gadgets can help keep students organized too”.

In fact, the Wi-Fire was in the #1 spot.

In a nutshell, “Whether at the cafe, in the library, or sitting in a dorm room, the Wi-Fire by hField makes accessing the Internet faster and easier. With it, you get better, more reliable connections. It eliminates those annoying “dead zones” where you might have a bad connection on campus. Wi-Fire can be a money saver for students who live off campus too. Instead of having to pay for Internet service at their apartment, Wi-Fire allows them to access their college’s system as if they were right on campus. (Of course this depends on how far from a campus building they live.) Wi-Fire is a small device that attaches to the top of a laptop. It is Mac and PC compatible. It costs $50 at online retailers such as Amazon [NasdaqGS: AMZN] or CompUSA, a subsidiary of Systemax who also owns Tiger Direct [NYSE: SYX].”

When you use a Wi-Fire, it’s easy to see why Wi-Fire has become, and remains, the Long Range WiFi Adapter of choice around the world — and a lifesaver for travelers, students and the home user alike.

Whether around the house, at work, at the beach, or anywhere you go in the World, for the best in performance and ease of use, nothing beats a Wi-Fire.

That’s what renowned science fiction writer Jerry Pournelle had to say about Wi-Fire. You can see his comments in his blog Chaos Manor Reviews – just use Find to search for hField or Wi-Fire.

For those of you who want to cut to the chase, here is a quote of Mr Pournelle’s conclusions about the Wi-Fire:

“If you have a need for increased Wi-Fi range, or increased signal strength to a distant Wi-Fi net, this is the gadget for you. It’s about the size of a pack of playing cards, and it’s fairly unobtrusive. I didn’t much care for the way it tries to clip to a laptop, but it sits just fine on a flat surface. I presume it uses power and thus lower’s your laptop’s battery life, but I didn’t notice any such effect.

It just works, and if you need this, you will need it bad.”

As we’ve said before, when you use a Wi-Fire, it’s easy to see why Wi-Fire has become, and remains, the Long Range WiFi Adapter of choice around the world — and a lifesaver for travelers, students and the home user alike.
